CASE STUDY
(Sample of our success)
Client: Johns Hopkins University School Of Medicine
1235 East Monument Street
Baltimore, MD, 21202
Service Location: Maryland
Delta-T Solution: Referred Social Workers to multiple departments for major university hospital system
Client Services: The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System and School of Medicine is noted for its excellent faculty and staff, covering every aspect of medicine; two world-class academic medical campuses; and multiple outreach programs for regional, national and international patient activities. Independent national rankings of hospitals, medical schools and physicians consistently place Johns Hopkins at the forefront. The system includes the flagship 1,039 bed Johns Hopkins Hospital; the Weinberg Building for cancer care; the Outpatient Center for diagnostic testing, imaging, outpatient surgery, and other care; the 653 bed Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the Regional Burn Center, the renowned Johns Hopkins Geriatrics Center, and Howard County General Hospital in Columbia.
Client Situation: Johns Hopkins has multiple locations throughout the Baltimore, Maryland area, where they were having trouble maintaining required staffing levels for certain clinical positions. They outlined specific staffing requirements for Licensed & Masters level Social Workers needed to provide coverage for extended absences due to sick leaves, turnover, difficult to recruit positions and expansion positions. Overtime and staff "burn out" of social workers was becoming a major issue for the institution, in the following departments:
• Foster Care
• Outreach programs
• Transplant
• In-patient psychiatry
• Oncology
• Drug and Alcohol
Johns Hopkins had not used contract temporary staff for behavioral health and/or mental health professionals in the past. As a high profile healthcare provider in the Baltimore, Maryland area, they expressed concern about our ability to refer high-quality professionals who would meet their expectations and be sensitive to their stature.
Delta-T Solution
Delta-T Group responded quickly. We met with them and discussed our organization’s qualifications, our professional screening and interviewing methods, standard response times, and 24-hour-a-day availability. Delta-T Group’s Maryland office focused several of its staffing coordinators and recruiters to manage the needs of this account. We wanted to make sure everything went smoothly from the beginning. After establishing ourselves with several department directors, they tested our service with more critical situations. They needed Masters-level, Foster Care social workers to work one-on-one with adolescents being discharged from inpatient psychiatric facilities. Often these cases provided little notice. Delta-T Group successfully prepared for these situations by building Availability Grids specific to this potential need. As cases came up, Delta-T Group was able to respond quickly. Our success with these difficult cases helped build trust and solidify our relationship with the Johns Hopkins Health System.
"As you know, this has been a challenging year for us in terms of our staff turnover. We have found Delta-T to be extremely professional, cooperative and responsive to our needs. We have been extremely satisfied with your agency and plan to continue in our relationship with Delta-T."
